Birthday Fun

Just one more for today, I know its all or nothing with me but here is my little card that I have made for one of my daughters friends birthdays.
I have coloured with my promarkers and have used the white pen to make some faux stitching. The purple flower I have made myself and the gorgeous butterfly I bought a few months ago cos I thought they were rather different. I have inked the butterfly with soft peach and rose chalks.

Annabel Lee for the Quoth the Raven Nevermore Challenge

It was many and many a year ago
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.

I love this poem by Edgar Allan Poe, if you have never read the whole of it then you really should give it a try and maybe the raven too, both are worth taking the time out for them.  If you have a kindle they are available as one of the free downloads at the moment.
What I wanted to do for the 'Annabel Lee' Challenge over at Quoth the Raven this fortnight was to put acrylic to canvas, but unfortunately for me my 2nd daughter used the last 12 x 12 that I had, she produced a fantastic painting of the rainforest and mountains in the distance and monkeys. It was brilliant! So I have had to move onto my second idea.
This gorgeous Sweet pea stamp has been coloured with a mixture of my whisper and promarker pens. I added some black butterflies, a wee copper toned sail boat and made up a bouquet of flowers.
These flowers I intermingled some pretty charms (starfish cos its by the sea) and some angels (as that is who carries her off) Black lace to co-ordinate. 3 pieces of pretty heather sprays and last but not least a gorgeous handmade button that I bought when I was on holiday last year in Devon.  The old lace was the very last piece that I had left from some that I had purchased also whilst on hols. wierd huh? This was meant to look a bit like the old nets that you see draped about the tiny ports with flotsam and jetsom caught in them.
Any hoo, I toyed with the idea of some glitter on her wings, but I think I prefer her like she is not too over the top. Just a soft and subtle image within the boundaries of the whole picture.
So the Quoth the Raven challenge finishes this wednesday so I had better get a move on and get this posted.

Daisy Daisy don't you just love her!

This cute little 'Daisy with Balloon' is perhaps the signature image of Squiggles, Daisy seems to have an image for all things cute. I have coloured Daisy with my Promarkers and the calendar page from Tlc Creations with my whispers pens. I used a LOTV round sentiment. some freebie paper and chipboard shapes, some pretty orange flowers and dotty ribbon.
I also attached a wee fairy, and added some faux stitching in the main colours of green and orange. The beautiful pansy frame is cut out using my friend 'Jennys' brilliant border and corner punches, wow they are so much fun and so effective, I added a wee bitty pigment chalk to the edges again in orange and green. xx

Squiggles All loved up challenge reminder

Wow we have had a lot of lovely entries so far for our current challenge ' all loved up ' and I have made another card for a bit of extra inspiration for you all.

Don't forget if you use a squiggles image then you get an extra entry to the draw and we do so love to see them used.

The Squiggles Store has some great offers including love birds on a special at just 99p. If you have a really good looky about the store you may discover some freebies too!

I have used this most adorable fairy, who of course is bringing love in her large gift. She is available here and is called fairy gifts.

Coloured with promarkers, used a small round sentiment then stamped the 'with love' onto it. Used an embossed card and some die cuts from DCWV. The beads and cord are from my stash and yes it was a creation that I started then decided I didn't like the colours, Go figure. But I then made this card and thought that it went rather well with it. So a few alterations here and there and suddenly this all fell together. The wee butterfly I found alone and very sad, stuck to the underside of one of my embelly boxes??!
Sorry about the squiffy picture, must be something about the 7 year old who was jumping up and down beside me saying ' can I do that mummy, can I use the camera mummy '. Just gotta love that stage, bet he won't be using the 'mummy' word much longer :-(
Close up of the image.
Isn't she cute!

tickled pink birthday wishes

Tickled pink digi called lil greek gods lolita orpheus Kellita, coloured again with a mixture of promarkers and whispers pens. I have followed a sketch from CES challenges and have used lotv sentiment and some gems from my stash to compliment her hair. I punched out 3 hearts again to contrast and made the yellow fringe around the sentiment look similar to a rosette or perhaps at a push the sun. Hmmm it was late at night lol.
I wrapped some hemp twine around the crosswise layer and faux stitched to add a little extra to this piece.  Couldn't find a piece of card or paper that I felt complimented the other colours, again this could have been cos it was late!  Any hoo, hope you like the finished result.

Anniversary card using Penny Black Hedgies

Top picture with no flash, bottom one with.
The real colours are somewhere in between.
This is a cute little PB hedgy stamp, that I have coloured with a mixture of Promarkers and Whispers pens.  I have used some lovely papers from a candy win from a whiley back and am afraid I do not know their name Sorry. The green 'ribbon/lace' is my most recent purchase from Cullen Crafts. I have layered up onto checked paper and distressed all the edges with my scissors. The rose is a beauty and I have recycled it from a package that I made at Christmas that got water damaged (leaky roof). The wee charm is from my stash, and I punched out wee hearts from some more of the checked paper.
The sentiment is LOTV and this card is an anniversary card for my aunt and uncle who celebrate 41 years together next week.

Quoth the Raven's 2nd Challenge

This is the same wall hanger, but with the wings glitter smudged on the third and fourth photos, still can't decide which way I like it best though.
Anyhow, I have used the wonderful collab that I won at Quoth the Raven (from Smeared Ink) to create something to adorn my walls.  I even learnt how to make the background to the images transparent.  I felt  however that with Poe behind the bars, it was more apt, as a lot of his literacy deals with sorrow and his feelings of inadequacy.  He had a sad life full of high mountains and deep troughs and a constant desire to get his poetry published in the manner in which he chose and not that of others.
The rose petals (for love) are from my garden, pressed last year. The pearls I felt were perfect for the era in which he lived.  The black glitter was for the gothism of his work, the dark places he visits in his subconscious.  I did actually use some pink/red inks on the background area, but the flash has all but bleached them away.  Hope you like this, it is a bitty different for me, but I did enjoy myself and that is of course why we create.
I am entering this into Quoth the Raven's 2nd Challenge which is to create a piece of artwork using his own image.
