It was many and many a year ago
In a kingdom by the sea,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee;
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me.
I love this poem by Edgar Allan Poe, if you have never read the whole of it then you really should give it a try and maybe the raven too, both are worth taking the time out for them. If you have a kindle they are available as one of the free downloads at the moment.
What I wanted to do for the 'Annabel Lee' Challenge over at Quoth the Raven this fortnight was to put acrylic to canvas, but unfortunately for me my 2nd daughter used the last 12 x 12 that I had, she produced a fantastic painting of the rainforest and mountains in the distance and monkeys. It was brilliant! So I have had to move onto my second idea.
This gorgeous Sweet pea stamp has been coloured with a mixture of my whisper and promarker pens. I added some black butterflies, a wee copper toned sail boat and made up a bouquet of flowers.
These flowers I intermingled some pretty charms (starfish cos its by the sea) and some angels (as that is who carries her off) Black lace to co-ordinate. 3 pieces of pretty heather sprays and last but not least a gorgeous handmade button that I bought when I was on holiday last year in Devon. The old lace was the very last piece that I had left from some that I had purchased also whilst on hols. wierd huh? This was meant to look a bit like the old nets that you see draped about the tiny ports with flotsam and jetsom caught in them.
Any hoo, I toyed with the idea of some glitter on her wings, but I think I prefer her like she is not too over the top. Just a soft and subtle image within the boundaries of the whole picture.
So the Quoth the Raven challenge finishes this wednesday so I had better get a move on and get this posted.
